 Rare antique portrait of whaling Captain Benjamin Sayer (1805-1879) of Nantucket. Painted by William Swain (famous Nantucket artist) circa 1830's. Capt Sayer commanded several Nantucket whale ships and later was the asst. lighthouse keeper at Sankaty Head Light, Nantucket. Very good unlined condition. Minor scattered retouches. Original stretcher and frame. Size: sight size - 28 x 22 inches.
