A rare Nantucket stamp/embosser marked: "A.T.MOWRY, BOOTS AND SHOES, 79 Main Street, Nantucket Mass," Circa 1870. Mowry also owned and managed the old Springfiled House. The embosser is cast lead in the shaped of a reclining Lion. The stamp is patented and the makers mark "J.H. Merriam, Manft. 15 Brattle Square, Boston." Very good condition with remnants of the original gold finish. A.T. Mowry later opened a general store at 107 Main St. (Murray's Toggery) This is a wonderful Nantucket memorabilia. Size: 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide
